Postdoctoral Research Post in Cancer Immunotherapy : Sheffield, United Kingdom
The successful candidate will work in the group of Professor Claire Lewis at the University of Sheffield in the UK. Her team studies the role of macrophages in the relapse of tumours after various frontline forms of therapy (see: Hughes et al. 2015. Cancer Cell; Lewis et al. 2016. Cancer Cell).
This exciting, new, 4-year project will investigate the effects of eliminating a highly immunosuppressive, relapse-promoting subset of macrophages in prostate tumours. Applicants should hold a good 1st degree in some area of biology and PhD in cancer research and/or immunology. S/he will also have experience in cell culture, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry and/or immunofluorescence microscopy, RNA and protein isolation/analysis and the use of mouse tumour models (including the harvesting/analysis of body tissues and fluids for analysis). This project is funded by the UK charity, Prostate Cancer UK.
