Postdoctoral Fellowship on Mitochondrial Biology in Neurodegenerative Disease, in the laboratory of Dr. Ken Nakamura. Potential areas of investigation include the identification and characterization of new genetic pathways that regulate energy levels, and mechanisms of mitochondrial dysfunction and metabolism in Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. Requirements include a PhD and/or MD, and fluency in English. Passion for science, dedication, good problem solving and interpersonal skills are critical. Individuals with experience in human or rodent neuronal culture systems, cell biology, flow cytometry, microscopy and/or mouse models of the brain are preferred. Career development will be a priority. The laboratory is situated in Gladstone’s highly interactive, multidisciplinary research facility at UCSF’s Mission Bay Campus, and draws upon the joint strengths of the Gladstone and UCSF communities.
