A highly motivated individual with education in biology, molecular biology or (veterinary) medicine is sought for three/four year position in the laboratory of Alain de Bruin and Bart van de Sluis at the Department of Pediatrics, in the Molecular Genetics Section at the University Medical Center Groningen, in the Netherlands.
We have developed a powerful combination of techniques and in vivo models to understand the pathobiology of cancer and ageing. Our research is focused on oncogenic and tumor suppressor pathways, which are altered in almost all types of cancers. We have been awarded with several grants from the Dutch Cancer Foundation (KWF), Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) and the Worldwide Cancer Research Foundation (AICR). Our efforts, a breakthrough in understanding the specific requirements of specific cell cycle proteins in development, polyploidization and cancer, have been published in Nature 2003 & 2008, Developmental Cell 2008 & 2012, EMBO 2012, Nature Cell Biology 2012, Oncogene 2016 and Journal of Clinical Investigation 2016 & 2017.
