Academic/Industry Postdoctoral Position

Employer: UPENN School of Medicine

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Salary: Salary commensurate with experience

Job Type: Postdoc

The Penn Center for Pulmonary Biology (PCPB) has an exceptional opportunity available for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join a collaborative research project with an international pharmaceutical company.

The Lab has an existing industry collaboration to study the molecular mechanisms that regulate tissue regeneration and repair in the lung. The postdoctoral fellow will focus on using novel models and assays including CRISPR mediated screens in mouse and human cell lineages to identify pathways critical for lung tissue repair and regeneration. The development and use of novel organoid assay systems to study cell plasticity ex vivo is an important focus of the lab. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. with a strong background in basic molecular and cell biology skills. Experience utilizing mouse models and primary cell culture systems is required for the success of this position.

Penn Center for Pulmonary Biology

The Penn Center for Pulmonary Biology (PCPB) is an interdisciplinary center that combines basic, clinical and translational research being conducted by Pulmonary faculty, both at UPenn (adult patients) and at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (neonatal and pediatric patients). The PCPB is a world renowned leader in the field of pulmonary biology research who will be responsible for the overall operation of the Center. The PCPB is housed in a completely renovated, state of the art research space in Stemmler Hall with more than 12,000 square feet of newly designed open concept lab space, offices and support areas. In addition to the research lab space, the PCPB houses the Human Lung Biology Core (HLB), which provides support in the design and implementation of experiments involving the use of human lung samples. The HLB Core has developed optimized protocols for the isolation and generation of high quality, reproducible human primary cells and organoids. The PCPB houses six core research labs with a wide range of basic and translational research including developmental biology, tissue regeneration, oncology, immunology, and inflammation. This new major investment of resources will facilitate a rich interdisciplinary environment and markedly benefit the field of lung biology.

Qualifications and Requirements
