Postdoctoral Research Associate in Organic Chemistry : Oxford, United Kingdom
Salary: Grade 8: £38,896 - £45,066 p.a.
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work under the supervision of Professor Martin Smith (Oxford Chemistry) and Professor Frank von Delft (SGC, Diamond Light) on a research project funded by the University of Oxford’s Department of Chemistry and Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC), and Diamond Light Source (DLS) for a period of 36 months. The project involves research into high-throughput X-ray screening with new catalyst-driven chemistry to access complex chiral fragments and enable rapid follow-up synthesis.
You should hold a relevant PhD/DPhil in synthetic or medicinal chemistry with post-qualification research experience. Duties will include design and synthesise of novel chemical fragments for screening against new drug targets. You should have knowledge of computational methods in small molecule drug discovery, protein crystallography and extensive laboratory experience with synthetic organic chemistry.
Experience with small molecule drug discovery or medicinal chemistry is desirable as well as experience with fragment- based drug discovery.
