We are seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist in Virus Evolution/Bioinformatics to join Peter Simmonds research group at the Peter Medawar Building for Pathogen Research.

As our Postdoctoral Scientist, you will investigate broader themes in the evolutionary relationships between virus groups and apply this knowledge towards a better understanding of how viruses may be classified. You will also have the opportunity to develop bioinformatics links between classification information, other public databases and provision of resources such as sequence alignments and methodologies for evolutionary analysis.

You will hold a PhD in the general area of virology or evolutionary biology, and have experience with sequence analysis methods and evolutionary reconstructions. Programming ability and familiarity with programming languages used in evolutionary biology is desirable, along with broader knowledge of virus biology, evolutionary methods and protein structure prediction.
