We are investigating the role of Tetraspanin 6 (Tspan6) in cancer development with the aim of understanding of how this protein affects tumour microenvironment in breast cancer. The Berditchevski lab has applied an affinity purification strategy to identify novel Tspan6 binding partners in an effort to understand how Tspan6-containing protein complexes affect the disease progression. We are now seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research scientist to join our team to characterise a Tspan6-dependent signalling pathways which control crosstalk between cancer cells and various cell types in tumour microenvironment.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree and at least 2 years post-doctoral experience within the fields of cellular immunology, cancer cell biology and/or biochemistry. Prior experience in animal work, standard cell biology (tissue culture, transfection of cells, production of lentivirus and cell infection) and protein biochemistry (western blotting, co-immunoprecipitation, production of recombinant protein) is essential. Experience in one or more of the following areas would be highly advantageous:

Assays for the multiplex analysis of protein expression on the cell surface (multiplex flow cytometry)

Cell migration assays

The proteasome-ubiquitin pathway

Confocal microscopy and working with Matrigel 3D cultures

Candidates must be committed to working at a highly competitive level, be able to communicate scientific ideas effectively and have a proven publication record. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and scientific creativity are essential.
