A Postdoctoral Research Associate is sought to work on the cytogenetics and taxonomy of anopluran lice in Dr. Perotti’s laboratory. This is a BBSRC-funded collaborative research project between the University of Reading, the Oxford University Museum of Natural History and Bangor University. The study will examine the evolution of human lice and early human migration in South America.
You will:
- Assist in the extraction of DNA from modern and ancient lice
- Be responsible for the cytogenetic analysis and haplotyping of lice
- Analyse morphological, genetic and molecular lice data to trace human lineages
- Acquire an extensive knowledge of relevant literature
- Support and advise undergraduate, Masters and PhD students in the research laboratory
- Prepare written reports and manuscripts for publication in high profile journals
