A Postdoctoral Position in DNA Lesion and Cancer Induction

Prof. Lei Li’s group at the Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) is seeking a motivated and skilled synthetic organic chemist or biochemist/molecular biologist as a postdoctoral fellow. The candidate will become a member of a multidisciplinary team and play a key role in advancing chemistry and biology of DNA lesions.

IUPUI is located in the beautiful city of Indianapolis, home of Colts, Pacers and Indianapolis 500. As the 14th largest city in the US, Indianapolis offers a wonderful urban life style in clean and safe neighborhoods. IUPUI houses the nation’s largest nursing school and the second largest medical school. The PI is a full member of the Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center at the IU School of medicine. The research is truly multidisciplinary, combining organic synthesis, DNA photochemistry, mass spectrometry, and chemical immunology to investigate the chemistry and biology of DNA lesions and elucidate their roles in the development of various types of cancer.

The applicant should have a PhD degree in organic chemistry, possess strong synthetic skills and be interested in applying his/her skills to understand nucleic acids chemistry and biochemistry. Alternatively, the applicant may hold a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, molecular biology or cell biology and is interested in applying various biological means to the understanding of cancer induction by DNA lesions. Please send a brief description (1-2 pages) of past research, CV and a list of 3 references to lilei@iupui.edu.
