Background: An American Cancer Society (ACS) Grant funded postdoctoral position is immediately available in Dr. Takeshi Shimamura's laboratory in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Oncology Research Institute at Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine, located in the Maywood, Illinois campus. The Shimamura laboratory investigates the impact of tumor suppressor loss in non-small cell lung cancer with a focus on developing novel therapeutics using human lung cancer cell lines and GEMM cancer models (refer to PMID 24045185 and 20541700).

Duties and Responsibilities: The postdoctoral fellow is expected to coordinate with our research specialist to work on the ACS project. The fellow will be asked to test hypotheses by designing/executing experiments and by interpreting results. The fellow will be required to keep detailed experimental records and will be required to effectively present research findings.

Qualifications: An ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree, strong oral and written communication skills, experience in in vivo work, and a strong background in cancer biology. Preference will be given to candidates with less than 2 years of postdoctoral experience and prior experience with GEMMs. Recent Ph.D. graduates are strongly encouraged to apply. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience.
