Eyes High Post-doctoral Fellowship in Pain Research
Area: Neuroscience (Pain research)

The Department of Comparative Biology & Experimental Medicine at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for an Eyes High Post-doctoral Scholar in the laboratory of Dr. Tuan Trang. The position is funded by the University’s Eyes High rising stars strategy (http://www.ucalgary.ca/risingstars/postdoc), which targets candidates of the highest caliber and that are competitive for national or international fellowships.

Job Description
The Post-doctoral Scholar will examine the fundamental molecules and processes involved in chronic pain and the association with stress/anxiety. The scholar will dissect the inner workings of microglia which are immune cells in the brain and spinal cord causally implicated in chronic pain signaling.

Responsibilities include being the primary person generating data, analyzing, graphing and presenting results, writing and submitting manuscripts. The scholar will be expected to generate new ideas in collaboration with the Principle Investigator. On a daily basis the scholar will interact with other laboratory personnel, train graduate and undergraduates and is expected to be an energetic member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute.

Qualifications
Candidate must have a PhD in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, or a related discipline. The candidate will have technical expertise in biochemical, molecular, and imaging approaches. The candidate must also have a track record of academic success as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, awards, and scholarships.
