We have a vacancy for a postdoctoral researcher to work in the Radiating Butterflies Research Group. We seek an evolutionary ecologist experienced in research with plant-insect and animal-plant interactions.

This position is for up to 12 month employed by the University of Cambridge, but six months of this period will be spent in South Africa. In Cambridge the post will be based with Professor Paul Brakefield. In South Africa the post-holder will be working with Professor Brad Ripley at Rhodes University. Dr Colin Osborne at Sheffield University is also a member of the research team. The position will be full time and commence as soon as possible. All costs of the field work will be covered. The post-holder will be given support to get the appropriate entry clearance/visa for South Africa.

Required skills and desirable experience for the position

Essential:

PhD in an appropriate subject, completed or completion imminent;

Experience in experimental design, data collection and analysis;

Experience in working with insect-plant / animal-plant interactions;

Experience in putting their data in to an evolutionary context;

Ability to organize time and work effectively, independently and self-responsibly in a research team setting;

Good interpersonal skills.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for  up to 12 months.
