The laboratory of Professor Lars Fugger, University of Oxford seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join a Wellcome Trust-awarded research programme investigating genetic risk factors in multiple sclerosis (MS). Based at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, you will join a team of scientists and clinicians with a range of genetic, immunological and neurological expertise. Our research aims to elucidate how genetic risk factors, identified through MS genome wide association studies (GWAS), can be translated into gene function, and how this can be used to improve and inform clinical practice.

A PhD in Immunology is essential, with up to 3 years postdoctoral research experience. Prior research experience investigating the immunological and/or genetic association of an autoimmune disease, such as MS, would be highly advantageous. The development of novel and modern techniques and skill sets within the group is encouraged and therefore the applicant must be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in laboratory skills. The successful applicant will have access to a range of state-of-the-art facilities including The Wolfson Imaging Laboratory and a core flow cytometry suite. We have a strong collaboration with the Department of Statistics at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, in Oxford, in addition to several internationally-recognised laboratories both within the UK and abroad.
