Summary
Applications are invited for a post-doctoral scholar to work on the interdisciplinary project ‘Ego-Media: The impact of new media on forms and practices of self-presentation’, funded by the European Research Council and located in the English Department of King’s College London. The appointment is for three years.

The sub-project associated with this position focuses on Space and Location in Digital Life Writing. It will use the concepts of relationality and the networked self to investigate lifewriting in relation to space. This will be undertaken with a wide geographical frame to underpin conceptual analysis; it will also be investigated locally through the developing of the existing place-based psycho-geographic digital project of Strandlines (www.strandlines.net). This post-doctoral sub-project will ask what difference the location of engagement with social media makes. Through Strandlines it will be possible to explore how different locational situations may manifest in physically common ground, and to reflect autobiographically on the significance of the spaces of engagement. The frame and established expertise of Strandlines would also enable specific comparisons to be made about different social media.
