Project Title: An integration of Mitigation and Adaptation options for sustainable livestock production under climate Change (Animal Change)

Post Duration: 12 months
Location:Teagasc, Animal and Grassland Research & Innovation Centre, Moorepark, Fermoy Co. Cork.

Reports to Head of Department and/or other nominated manager
Training Rate PD1 scale starting at €33,975.  The current PD1 scale is €33,975 to €36,003.   

Basic Function of the post: Post doctorate researcher who will collate and analyse data undertake environmental modelling of the factors associated with GHG emissions in agricultural production systems and will subsequently publish the information generated in a number of relevant medium.

The scientists will be involved in the development and use of both national and international models of livestock production, including both the Moorepark Dairy Systems Model and the FARMAC model.

Essential

• PhD in farm systems modelling
• Relevant research experience not to exceed 3 years’ post-PhD
• Demonstrated research and technical expertise in farm systems modelling
• Evidence of research activity (publications, conference presentations, awards) and future scholarly output (working papers, research proposals etc)
• Excellent project management, analytical, report writing and data analysis skills
• An ability to collaborate with team members and PhD students to help build research knowledge and skill and to guide professional development
• Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation) with an ability to enable effective knowledge and technology transfer
• Ability to generate new ideas, unique concepts, models and solutions
