Postdoctoral fellowship
University of Iowa - Iowa City, IA
We are seeking a talented neuroscientist at the level of postdoctoral fellow or Research Scientist for studies of Ca2+ channel regulation in the brain, retina, and/or inner ear. Current research interests include the role of Ca2+ channel modulators in central neurons (Inagaki et al., 2014, Neuron 81: 91-102; Jenkins et al., 2010, J. Neurosci . 30:5125-35), auditory inner hair cells (Gregory et al., 2011, Nat Neurosci 14:1109-1111), and photoreceptors (Haeseleer et al., 2004, Nat. Neurosci. 7:1079-87; Lee et al., 2007, J. Neurosci. 27:12743-12754). We are particularly interested in studying Ca2+ channel defects in mouse models of human disease and in discovering ion channel therapeutics for disorders of the nervous system, inner ear, and retina.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D and publications in the neurosciences or related biomedical science and experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, mouse behavior, and/or electrophysiological/imaging techniques. Experience with synaptic electrophysiology in brain slices or electrophysiological analysis of cochlear hair cells is highly desirable.

The laboratory ( http://www.physiology.uiowa.edu/lee/index.html ) is located in the Dept. of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Iowa ( http://www.physiology.uiowa.edu/ ), which is recognized for excellence in neuroscience research. Investigators at the university include 2 HHMI investigators and the training environment offers numerous opportunities to collaborate as well as training grants, journal clubs, and interdepartmental seminars.
